For citations not requiring a court appearance, fine and costs may be paid online at www.nebraska.gov by selecting:

• Courts;
• Make Court Payment; then
• Pay a Ticket/Citation (no court appearance required)

If you have questions concerning the payment of citations, please call the Cheyenne County Court Clerk Magistrate’s Office at (308) 254-2929,Monday through Friday, 8:00 am through 5:00 pm Mountain Time.

You MUST appear in court for all citations requiring a court appearance.  If a waiver is not allowed, you must appear in court. Your appearance date and time are on your citation. 

If you are uncertain whether you are required to appear in court, you may call the Cheyenne County Attorney’s Office at 308-254-6060, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to Noon and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm Mountain Time.

Traffic Diversion Program – Attend a 4-hour defensive driving program and have your citation dismissed.

Eligibility Requirements

• Speeding (not more than 19 mph over the speed limit)
• Disregarding traffic signs and signals
• Failure to yield the right-of-way
• Wrong way, wrong side or improper passing
• Following too closely
• Driving too fast for conditions
• Improper turns, backing or lane changes
• Not wearing a seatbelt
• Negligent/Careless driving
• Texting while driving

You are not eligible if…

• You participated in a STOP program in the last three (3) years
• If you have more than two (2) violations listed in the “eligibility requirements”
• You possess a CDL license
• If your citation was for:
• Engaging in a speed competition
• No insurance
• Major traffic citations (leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, willful reckless
  or reckless driving)
• Speeding in a construction, school, or park/recreation area or zone
• No operator’s license
• THE COUNTY ATTORNEY HAS THE RIGHT TO REFUSE OR ACCEPT ANY INDIVIDUAL

How and When to Enroll

Course Registration Fee: $140.00 (plus court costs and additional fee for on-line class).  Pay by check, money order or credit card. MUST BE PREPAID – NON REFUNDABLE

YOU MUST BE REGISTERED BY THE THURSDAY BEFORE YOUR COURT APPEARANCE

Complete the program within 60 DAYS after receipt of the citation.
Charges will be filed in court pending completion of the program and dismissed upon satisfactory proof of completion.
